It hasn’t felt much like summer in New York lately, but six-time James Beard Award finalist Cathy Whims will attempt to change all that on June 27. The chef/owner of Nostrana in Portland, Oregon will be popping up at the Chef’s Dinner Table event space in Little Italy on that date to cook up recipes from her new cookbook, The Italian Summer Kitchen.

The book is a colorfully illustrated compendium of authentically Italian yet home cook-friendly recipes.

The 5-course tasting menu with wine selected pairings will highlight such dishes as soft-shell crab with herbed rémoulade and risotto with cantaloupe and prosciutto. Tickets, which may be purchased here, are $195 per person for Chef’s Dinner Table members and $250 for first-time attendees.
