The place has had a good run, but on Friday, July 18, Hector’s Cafe and Diner, located at 44 Little West 12th Street in the Meatpacking District, will serve up its last burger.
Hector’s departure coincides with the announcement of the expansion of the Whitney Museum Downtown and the exodus last Fall of the last of the meatpackers, marking the final chapter in the gentrification of the neighborhood.
During its lengthy run, Hector’s has been more than just a restaurant. The diner also appeared in many films and television shows, including “Law & Order.” Hector’s also had a cameo role in the film “Taxi Driver.”
