This time, no one is laughing. Quite the contrary, the company is asking for your help in combatting a nationwide problem.
According to NewYork-Presbyterian, a need for blood arises in our community every 2 seconds, but donorship this time of year tends to be down, resulting in shortages. To encourage New Yorkers to help out, the hospital is partnering with Van Leeuwen to reward blood donors with a coupon for a free pint of ice cream redeemable at any Van Leeuwen scoop shop in New York City.
To become a blood donor, visit a participating New York Blood Center location or their traveling mobile unit from Jan. 11 through the 31st. A complete list of blood centers can be found here.
