Yes, it’s Sunday, July 21, aka National Ice Cream Day, and the city is teaming with possibilities in the realm of frozen treats.

Van Leeuwen, famous for its outlandish flavor combos, is celebrating the day, which is also the 50th Anniversary of Hello Kitty, with a new flavor that will be available today only. Called Yummy Berry White Chocolate Truffle, the flavor combines white chocolate ice cream with swirls of red raspberry jam (mimicking Hello Kitty’s signature red bow) and chunks of truffle brownie.

If you pick up a cone or a pint, know that you’re doing some good: 50% of the profits will be donated to kindness.org, the global non-profit focused on kindness.

P.S. Van Leeuwen’s shop at 310 Greenwich Street in Tribeca, will host a special pop-up event today devoted to Hello Kitty fans. Customers who stop by can get a taste of the flavor by the scoop alongside Hello Kitty-themed sundaes and shakes. There will also be giveaways of commemorative merch and free friendship bracelets, while supplies last.

If you want your Ice Cream Day treat free (more or less), you can find what you seek at Wendy’s, which is giving away a free small Frosty with a purchase of at least $5 or more on the chain’s app.

At participating branches of Dairy Queen, meanwhile, customers can cash in on a free Dilly Bar along with redemption of any DQ Rewards order of $1 or more. The pops consist of vanilla soft serve coated in chocolate.

KIND will be handing out free KIND Frozen Treat Bars to New Yorkers today at Domino Park in Brooklyn from noon until 5:00 p.m., or while supplies last. The company is also giving away a year’s supply of KIND Frozen Bars to one lucky winner. To enter, watch for the sweepstakes post on Instagram at @kindsnacks, then like and save the post, follow @kindsnacks, and tag three friends and comment.

Fun Fact: National Ice Cream Day was designated in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan.
