Ever since vodka became the drink of choice among millennials, the spirits market has been inundated with flavored vodkas. Now a new flavor has been added to the mix, though this one is likely to raise more eyebrows than it does toasts among true vodka lovers.
Fast food leviathan Arby’s has entered the vodka business, releasing two flavors of vodka that evoke the brand’s fries. According to the website, the Curly Fry Vodka is “a tribute to the mastery of crisp, spiced, curled potato. Distilled with cayenne, paprika, onion and garlic, this innovative vodka preserves the distinctive & authentic tasting notes of the traditional Arby’s Curly Fry.” The Crinkle Fry Vodka is credited with “honoring the rich tradition of salted potato shapes, made with real kosher salt and sugar — a subtle homage to the simple perfection of Arby’s crisp, and golden Crinkle Fries.”
Nation’s Restaurant News reports that the chain has partnered with celebrity chef and Arby’s fan(!) Justin Sutherland to develop two Bloody Mary recipes featuring the vodka. The ingredients lists feature “classic Arby’s menu items like Horsey sauce and Arby’s sauce, as well as toppers such as Curly Fries, Mozzarella Sticks and more.” Complete recipes for both cocktails are available at the Arby’s site.
Arby’s vodkas may be purchased by mail order directly from the company for $59.99, including shipping and handling.
If you’re snickering over how silly the whole business sounds, you should know that the vodkas, which first became available in limited quantities on Nov. 18, are currently sold out.
