Jet’s Pizza Dares to Put Down Roots in NYC; First Ever Queens Restaurant Month Kicks Off Today

It’s not the first time an outsider has attempted to take on the loyal masses. In fact, when you think about it, New York already has numerous pizza outlets that serve non-New York pies, including Domino’s, Papa John’s, and even that most unserious of contenders, 7-Eleven.

Anyway, time will tell whether locals are willing to embrace Jet’s Pizza, the purveyor of rectangular pies that got its start in Detroit in 1978 and now boasts stores in more than 400 locations nationwide. If you want to try out the new kid on the block, if for no other reason than to confirm your prejudices about New York pies, you can find it on Second Avenue, between 61st and 62nd Streets, 646-448-4400.

First Ever Queens Restaurant Month Kicks Off Today

Today, March 1, more than 150 restaurants in Queens will take part in the first-ever “Eats in Queens Restaurant Month.” The promotion is organized by #QueensTogether, a nonprofit created to connect Queens restaurants and food businesses with resources, promotion, and community. By donating $25 or more to Queens Together, you receive a discount pass good for 10% off at participating restaurants. A list of participants can be found here.
