It’s not the first time an outsider has attempted to take on the loyal masses. In fact, when you think about it, New York already has numerous pizza outlets that serve non-New York pies, including Domino’s, Papa John’s, and even that most unserious of contenders, 7-Eleven.

Anyway, time will tell whether locals are willing to embrace Jet’s Pizza, the purveyor of rectangular pies that got its start in Detroit in 1978 and now boasts stores in more than 400 locations nationwide. If you want to try out the new kid on the block, if for no other reason than to confirm your prejudices about New York pies, you can find it on Second Avenue, between 61st and 62nd Streets, 646-448-4400.
