Last week I reported that New Orleans Chef John Besh was feeling the heat after 25 employees of his company, Besh Restaurant Group, complained of sexual harassment.
The report noted that Besh himself had been accused of lewd behavior by one woman who claimed the chef had taken advantage of her while she was sleeping.
Now the proverbial stuff has hit the fan. According to CNN, Besh has stepped down from the company he founded. His departure was announced in a staff email from Shannon White, who will be assuming Besh’s role as chief executive officer of the company, effective immediately.
In addition, Harrah’s New Orleans Casino said it is terminating its relationship with Besh Restaurant Group. Besh Steak, located in the casino, will remain open under a different name.
Besh Restaurant Group employs more than 1,000 people in New Orleans, San Antonio, and Baltimore in top-rated restaurants.
