It’s been 41 years since John Lennon’s life was cut short outside his home in the Dakota by a crazed assassin. This coming Wednesday, Dec. 8, will mark the anniversary. Then three days later, Pekarna, a restaurant and event space a few blocks from the Dakota, will present “IMAGINE — An Art & Live Music Tribute to Strawberry Fields.”

This event is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11, between the hours of 8 and 11 p.m. Musicians Jaime Saso, Diego Latorre, and James Dalton Baker will perform classic Beatles songs, many written by Lennon, as video clips of the group are projected on the space’s 106-inch drop down screen. Local artist Marie Charlotte will also be displaying a new series of paintings that were inspired by Strawberry Fields, the John Lennon memorial in Central Park.

Tickets for the event, which include one drink, are $20 and are available for purchase here.

If you elect to arrive earlier and have dinner at the restaurant, be sure to order the crispy wild boar with rice, one of the only Slovenian dishes you’ll find anywhere in New York. (In fact, if you look, you’ll find only a handful more, all of them served here.)
