The nothing-but-steak-and-fries trend has a new practitioner. It’s name is Tiny’s Cantina, and its claims to fame include its bargain-rate prices (more on which presently) and its location: It is inside a Mexican restaurant with a full complement of Mexican dishes.
Unlike most purveyors of NBSF, which provide a single steak cut, oftentimes skirt steak, Tiny’s offers a range of choices, from hanger steak up through a New York strip that is USDA Prime. The price range — $24.95 to $34.95 — also sets it apart from its pricier rivals.
Every steak comes with a trio of steak sauces — Green Jalapeño, Cranberry Mole, and Red Habanero — plus a beer-battered blooming pepper garnish. Fries are not unlimited, as at most restaurants of this ilk, but you can get seconds on the house. Servings are generous, moreover, so you’re likely to be sated with two, if not one.
Tiny’s Cantina, 229 Flatbush Avenue (bet. Bergen & Dean Sts.), Brooklyn, 718-970-7007.
